Victoria County has over 54,000 registered voters. We open 35 polling places on Election Day. At each of these polling locations there is an election judge and at least three clerks. They are there to assist you in casting your vote.
The individuals who serve as election judges and clerks are paid for the time they spend at the polls. They will never get rich from their election pay. They work so the election process will properly reflect the intent of the voters of their precinct. All election judges and nearly all clerks reside in the same precinct they serve. They are therefore your neighbors and quite possibly, your long-term friends.
Election precinct personnel have as their ultimate goal that everyone who is entitled to vote be given any assistance necessary for properly casting their ballot. They really want for as many people as possible to come to the polling place. It’s a kind of unofficial contest to have the greatest number of voters or the greatest percentage of voters at your polling place.
If you would like to help, talk the election judge at the polling place or give us a call at the Elections Office.
