Candidates in every election need your help.
The first thing they need is your vote. This very obvious requirement is sometimes overlooked. You may think a candidate running for office is a shoe-in to be elected and don’t go to the polls. Candidates are surprised on Election Day when individuals who promised support didn’t show up at the polls. Be sure you support your candidate with your vote.
Money is always needed by candidates who are opposed. The money is used to increase the visibility of a candidate. Bumper stickers and signs as well as advertisements in the local media all come at a cost. Without these items a candidate remains an unknown to the general election populace. You may believe that they are a good choice for an elected official but their candidacy must also be considered by other prospective voters.
Working in the campaign can prove to be as more valuable than money. Many candidates would like to meet every person who might vote but that is physically impossible. The next best thing is for every voter to meet a representative of the candidate. This can be through phone calls or block walking by supporters. Writing letters to friends in the area and stuffing mailers to prospective voters supports your candidate’s message. Working at a fundraiser for the candidate is also an important contribution
