Casting Your Vote On A Voting Machine
Before you go to the polls
Prepare yourself for voting.
- Obtain a sample ballot.
- Gather information on the candidates or measures.
- Select the offices. You are entitled to vote in all races but are not
required to do so.
- Pick your candidates or measures.
- Mark your sample ballot and take it with you to the polls.
- You may also list your candidates on a separate piece of paper.
- If you don't wish to write down the information, commit your choices to
memory.
On arriving at your polling place
Bring with you some type of identification and your sample ballot or piece of
paper listing your candidates.
After qualifying to vote by signing the voter roster, proceed to the voting
machine.
- Grasp the large red handle and move it towards the right.
- The curtains will close behind you for privacy.
- Locate the first race you wish to vote in.
- Races are listed from left to right, Federal - State - District - County.
- Candidates for each race are listed below the office title.
- Candidates are listed in party order; Republican - Democratic -
Libertarian - Green.
- Select your candidate by moving the small blue/green tab down.
- This should reveal a small red arrow over the name of your candidate.
- Proceed to the next race.
- Complete pulling down the small blue/green tabs for all candidates
- Grasp the large red handle and move it towards the left.
- Pulling the handle will cast your vote and open the curtain.
