Affidavit: A sworn statement made before a person authorized to take an oath.
Agent: Spouse, parent or child who may register for you. A agent may not make changes to your voter registration.
HAVA: Help America Vote Act. Passed in October of 2002 and requiring new voting systems in federal elections. Major implementation in 2006.
Polling Place: The site of voting on Election Day within the precinct. Normally the building is a public building but it can also be a church or private residence.
Precincts: A county is composed of many county election precincts. Voters are registered within a precinct according to their residence address.
Precincts can also be used to describe an area from which an official is elected such as a Commissioner's Precinct or a Justice of the Peace Precinct. In this instance several election precincts are combined to form one elected official's precinct
Registered Voter: A United States citizen and resident of the county who has completed an application and the application has been accepted.
Voter Registrar: In most counties, it is your Tax Assessor-Collector whose responsibility includes voter registration. In other counties, it may be the County Clerk or an Elections Administrator.
Voting Station: The voting booth or other place where voters mark their ballots or otherwise indicate their votes at a polling place.
