Effective July 1, 2026, pursuant to Texas House Bill 2844, mobile food unit operators will be required to obtain a permit from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to continue operating in the State of Texas. Permits issued under local jurisdictions prior to this date will no longer be valid for operation on or after July 1, 2026, and will not be grandfathered under the new law. All mobile unit operators are responsible for monitoring regulatory updates and ensuring compliance with applicable state requirements, including the timely submission of any required applications, fees, and supporting documents to DSHS.
