What is Epidemiology?
Epidemiology is the surveillance of notifiable conditions to determine risk factors for control. Our department investigates outbreaks of infectious disease to determine possible risk factors for possible control in: schools, day cares, nursing homes, hospitals, and other facilities. We also collect and analyze epidemiological data to detect trends, outbreaks, unusual occurrences, and other possible adverse public health events related to infectious disease.
