General Questions
  • Current year property taxes are due by January 31st. Penalty and interest will begin accruing on any balance remaining on February 1st.

    Credit Cards used in the Tax Office will be charged a convenience fee of 2.65% or a minimum of $3.00.
    Debit Cards (without a pin number) used in the Tax Office will be charged a convenience fee of 2.65% or a minimum of $3.00.
    Debit Cards (with a pin number) used in the Tax Office will be charged a convenience fee of 1.95% or minimum of $3.00.
    Convenience fees are added by Gov-Pay, a third party service provider for government payments.
    Credit / Debit Cards may be used to pay by phone or internet. This form of payment is done through Certified Payments and will be assessed a convenience fee by Certified Payments of 2.5%. To used this method by phone, please call 1-866-549-1010, or by internet site www.certifiedpayments.net. You will need your statement and the Victoria County Bureau Code is 1071003.

  • If you do not receive a tax statement by the end of October of each year, contact the Tax Office at 361-576-3671 and request the statement be mailed. However, failure to receive a tax statement does not affect the validity of the tax, penalty, interest, the due date, the existence of a tax lien, or any procedure instituted to collect a tax. Property owners have a responsibility to make sure that the correct name and address is listed for each property owned.

  • Property taxes are assessed to the owner of record on January 1st of the taxing year. If you sell property during the year, it is to be determined at closing as to who will pay the property taxes for that taxing year. Generally, the tax statement will be mailed to the January 1st property owner.
