Victoria County Commissioner Jason Ohrt and the Victoria County Engineering Department, has led a major initiative to improve Northside Road through an interlocal agreement with the City of Victoria. The agreement allows both entities to partner on the full reconstruction of Northside Road (Precinct 2), which spans 1.77 miles.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $605,315.19, including construction and design. Victoria County will contribute $460,952.82 to fund 1.50 miles of roadway within county limits, while the City of Victoria will contribute $144,362.37 to fund the remaining 0.27 miles within city limits.
Construction on Northside Road is scheduled to begin in September 2025 through a partnership with the City of Victoria Public Works and Engineering Department and under a contract with Clark Construction. The project is expected to be completed within 90 days of the start date. In advance of the reconstruction, crews will conduct culvert pipe replacement and drainage improvements from August 25–28.
The full reconstruction will take place in two phases: Phase one will extend from U.S. Highway 77 to Wellspring Blvd./Bambi Dr., and Phase two will continue from Wellspring Blvd./Bambi Dr. to Parsons Rd. At the Wellspring Blvd./Bambi Dr. intersection, construction will be carried out in half-widths to keep the intersection open to through traffic during both phases.
“This project has been a long-time priority of mine, and I’m excited to see it moving forward,” said Commissioner Ohrt. “I’m grateful to the City for partnering with us to make it happen.”
