Victoria County Receives $17.5 Million in Funding For Mental & Behavioral Health Facility
08/07/2026

Victoria County has received $17.5 million from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in a significant installment of state funding for the construction of Victoria County’s modern 60-bed Mental Health and Behavioral Facility. These funds are in addition to the $20 million previously awarded for the project in March 2026.

Site work continues at the location near Victoria Regional Airport, with foundation beams and additional concrete foundation being poured in July. The $17.5 million includes $1.5 million in additional funding appropriated by HHSC to ensure this project can be completed with a capacity of 60 beds in these times of rapidly rising construction costs.

“We thank Senator Kolkhorst and HHSC for all they have done to move our shared vision forward to building a top-notch mental and behavioral health facility here in the Crossroads. Like other major County initiatives in progress to serve the people and needs of our region, this is a project that committed people have dedicated a lot of time to. Taking a team approach and building bridges with others is vital to bringing concepts like the Victoria County Mental & Behavioral Health Facility from the drawing board to reality,” Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller said.
