The Victoria County Public Health Department Environmental Services Division is the regulatory authority for Calhoun, DeWitt, Jackson, and Victoria Counties. The Environmental Services Division permits and inspects Temporary Food Establishments to ensure that vendors comply with the minimum requirements; and the temporary food establishments are constructed and equipped, and that they prepare, store and serve food in a safe and sanitary manner.

Temporary Food Establishments may be operated in conjunction with a special event or celebration for a time not to exceed fourteen (14) consecutive days. All Temporary Food Establishments shall contact the Environmental Services Division at least 5 business days prior to the event and complete a Temporary Food Establishment Permit Application.

 

NOTE: ALL food sold or given to the public must come from an approved source. A home kitchen is not an approved source.

Non-profit organizations that provide proof of their non-profit status, Tax Form 501(c)(3) (such as schools, religious organizations, and governmental agencies), are exempt from the permit fee but shall comply with all temporary food establishment requirements.

Special Events held with two or more for-profit food vendors, shall review and complete the Event Coordinator Instructions and Application for Temporary Food Establishments and provide the Environmental Services Division with a completed list of all food vendors participating at the special event.  

The Event Coordinator shall submit their final list of vendors at least 10 business days prior to the event. In the City of Victoria, Event Coordinators have the option to purchase a blanket permit to cover all food vendors OR each food vendor will be responsible for paying for an individual Temporary Food Establishment Permit.
